While spring may be for cleaning, fall is the perfect time to do some redecorating. Halloween decorations to be specific. Spooky season is upon us and now is the perfect time to get outside and add some Halloween spirit to your garden. There is plenty you can do to make your garden spookier in time for the trick-or-treaters.

Gothic Plants

A great way to bring the spooky season to your garden is to get some plants to match the season. You can plant some herbs to make a witch’s garden. Get some plants to make a Halloween color theme in your garden. Black plants are perfect for a gothic vibe. Add some purple and orange to get a Halloween themed garden of plants. You can paint your pots and planters to Halloween colors if you want to complete the look or get black planters to blend in with the night.

Pumpkins

Pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns are a classic Halloween staple and can make any garden spookier. With a variety of colors, sizes, and shapes you’ll be able to customize your garden with your own personal pumpkin patch! You can carve out faces and creepy designs in the pumpkin, or fun and silly designs if you want a more whimsical Halloween garden. You can even paint on the pumpkins to add extra details to your design.

Spiderwebs

Spiderwebs are an easy to make yourself addition to any spooky garden. You can get premade spiderweb decorations or get some cotton balls and glue to make your own. Hang them on trees, in bushes, and around your house. You can even get some fake spiders to put in them if you want to go the extra step!

Spooky Lights

Putting lights up is a great way to add a supernatural element to your garden. You can get fairy lights, put candles in pumpkins, or hang lanterns up to add to the mystery. Colored lights are a great way to fit the spooky season. Green, purple, or orange lights would add some Halloween spirit to your garden’s atmosphere. You can hang lights above your plants, on a railing, or use them to line a walkway. You could even use string to hang lanterns or glowsticks from a tree to give the effect of glowing lights in your yard.

Creatures

Getting props and figures for your garden is another way to bring in the spooky vibe. You can make custom headstones to plant around your yard. Lay down skeletons or zombies on the ground to make them look like they are crawling out of their graves. Hide eyeballs in the plants to watch anyone who gets close. Get some old sheets and hang up some ghosts to float around. You could get cut outs of your favorite Halloween characters and set them up around your yard. These props will add a spooky element to your garden area.
